Ch 9 Chemical Bonding 2

In the first video of chapter 9, we discuss electron domain geometry versus molecular geometry.  



The second video discusses how to determine the geometry of larger, more complex molecules.



In this video, we discuss polarity in greater detail, and we cover how a molecule can contain dipoles and yet be nonpolar (i.e. have no overall dipole moment).



In this video, the concept of orbital hybridization is discussed...in particular, we focus on atoms other than carbon since we covered carbon orbital hybridization in class.





The last video of the series discusses valence bond theory and how it relates to resonance.  Please bear through my tongue-tied speech :)




Please note that the video below is actually from Organic Chemistry (Fall 2014); however, it is describing the sp orbital hybridization for a carbon-carbon triple bond.  I have included it here because you can still learn from it.  I was using the "Explain Everything" app at that time, which is why it has a different 'look' to it.
