Ch 7 Electron Configuration & the Periodic Table

The first video of chapter 7 discusses effective nuclear charge and the size of atoms.  




The second video takes this discussion to the way that it affects the sizes of monoatomic ions (i.e. ions consisting of a single atom).




The third video covers the topics of ionization energy and electron affinity.  It also discusses trends and why there are discontinuities in these trends.  You should be able to explain why they occur.



The fourth video discusses the properties and characteristics of metals, nonmetals, and metalloids.
